Mary was my mom, my best friend, and so much more.  She grew up in Arcadia, CA the daughter of a nurse and  veterinarian.  She traveled north in the early 40’s to attend the University of California in Santa Barbara.  Back then, the University sat up on the Riviera, a hillside above the small town of Santa Barbara.  The views alone from that wonderful campus would be enough to inspire any young art student.
